Caminos de Esperanza
Studying Spanish with us gives you the opportunity to participate in our social project as a volunteer. You can help change the life of many Mayans in the Panajachel/Solola region. Caminos de Esperanza is a non-profit special education school, and its main goal is to promote the integration and inclusion of people with disabilities and their families in society, contributing to improve their quality of life.
Practice your spanish in real life situations while helping others at Caminos de Esperanza, located in Panajachel. This institution is paying attention to young guatemalan people with different special needs: physical disabilities, learning problems, malnourishment, etc.; all made worse by extreme poverty. Jardin de America Spanish School is involved in the proper functioning of this non-profit organization.
You can help by volunteering in the following areas: language therapy, physical therapy, special education, group dynamics and games, translating documents of the association or creating or improving a website for the Project.
One of the main goals of the association is to build their own school, with the appropriate infrastructure for people with disabilities, and matching their educational needs. This implies managing and gathering the economic resources necessary for the purchase of land and construction of the school building. Currently the school operates in a rented house, which does not provide the best possible conditions for a special education school. If you have the opportunity to help, or if you know someone with economic resources that have the good will and good heart to help, contact us to give assistance to this social project.
